XOXO, Done, Rounded Up

1. Even after the long wait today for the plane, it is SO GREAT to have Jeremy back here! What a great greeting that was at the airport!

2. Jeremy and I had our first wedding shower while we were in Illinois. I was able to finish the thank you notes today...what an accomplishment.

3. It's so great to have everyone I love in my life back together again for dinner!! I love you all!!

Way to Go!!

Can I tell you who I really hate right now?? American Airlines. I have been away from Jeremy for 7 days...7 DAYS!!! That's a whole week. Do you realize how hard this is? Well, he was supposed to be in at 11:10 am, but one of his flights was delayed which meant he missed his connection. So, here I am writing this while he is waiting for a standby flight. Way to go American...way to get my hopes up and then make me wait!!!

Accomplished, Dumplin', Fire

1. Today I got so much done, it is great to get things accomplished.

2. I love apple dumplings, tonight....I got one. YUM!!

3. It was a high of 34 today, so the fire in the fireplace tonight was wonderful.

Errands, Laughter, Grey's

1. Today I got to ride around with my mom while she ran errands. We haven't been able to do that lately and today was amazing getting to do it again.

2. Laughter really is the best medicine. Tonight my family and I played a few games. We always have a great time when we do, and it's never a complete night unless we have a laughing fit. Thankfully, tonight was a complete night.

3. Yay for Grey's Anatomy on DVD. Season 3....Wohoo!!!

The Good Ol' Days

Do you ever have those times when you are hanging out with an old friend and realize things have changed...that maybe something is different and you wish things could be like they used to? Today I was hanging out with an old friend that I turn to when I need cheering up and I realized I'm missing something.

I got Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy on DVD for Christmas and last night I started watching it again. I started thinking of the good laughs and cry's that I had with George, Izzy, Christina, Mer, and Alex, and I realize things aren't the same as they used to be. I loved the old days, I love the new days, but I miss Burke. There is just something about the relationship between him and Christina, his wisdom around the hospital and how he brought mystery to my favorite show that I MISS!!

I know things will never be the same, and I am trying my best to love this new friendship I have. But, like a good old photo album, I'm glad I have the DVD's I can go back and watch to remember the good ol' days!

Doing my Best Thinking

A little while back I wrote that I knew I was getting old due to the constant wondering why kids these days always have to have the earphones to their ipod in their ears. Well, just a few weeks ago I had another "you're getting old" moment.

I remember my mom always talking that she does her best thinking in the shower. I always thought that was an "adult" thing. Well, it happens to me now. I can be standing in the warm water with a shampoo suds football helmet and the greatest thought will come into my head.

I don't know when this started, but all I know now....I must be getting old.

What were they Thinking??

When I make my daily trek to Starbucks before going to class, I have to go through a turnabout. Now, whoever decided to put one of these in a city where people don't know how to drive in them ( I don't recall learning the rules of a turnabout in driver's ed) was crazy. No one knows who they are to yield to. Not to mention it's in a bad place that has blind corners.

For example, I was driving to Starbucks the other day and looked and yielded before I started to proceed when all of a sudden a women in a car came flying around the circle. I had to slam on my brakes, spill my book bag and everything else I had in my car while she gave me a dirty look. Come on lady, you weren't there two seconds ago...

Santa, I need help!!

So much to do, and so little time. Who would have thought...it's two days before Christmas and I still have SO much to do. Since I spent a week in Illinois, and just got back a couple of days ago, I have shopping to do. Problem number 1 -- I am sick. I caught a bad cold up North and am in bed and don't want to move. I have no idea how I'm going to get myself out of bed to go. Problem number 2 -- it seems as though everyone is having Christmas parties this weekend. I went to one last night and only lasted about an hour before I had to go home and get in bed. I have one tonight too, boy I don't know if I'm going to make it.

So, needless to say, I have a load of work to do with time and a body that aren't allowing me to. What's a girl to do??

Covered Up

Yesterday I got back from a week long visit to Illinois. Jeremy and I were thrown a couples wedding shower, we got to visit with many great people and play tourist. Coming home though, and being without internet for 7 days, I am covered up and behind in all the happenings of the world. Not to mention, I came home with a cold. So, as soon as I surface for air and get out of bed, I can't wait to share all that went on. (yes, pictures will be included too!!)

Almost there!!

Well, it's official. I presented my last project today, and I couldn't be happier. The high school drama has almost come to an end. I just hope the group that reeks havoc wont be in my classes next semester. I presented a great unit on North America today, and know I will be getting an "A" in that class. Now all I have to do is show up to school tomorrow, pick up my teaching portfolio and I am one semester closer to doing what I love...hanging out with the little people, oh yeah, and teaching them a thing or two as well!!

They're Back!!

Has anyone ever seen one of these?? Every year about this time the commercials for these clappers start popping up. Seriously, do you think I'm going to get Mom and Dad one of these gadgets? Would I get Jeremy one? My brother? I honestly know of NO ONE who has a clapper, I'm not saying they wouldn't be cool if they didn't have one, but seriously, who has one of these things?? I would really like to know.

Where are you Christmas??

I received this little poem in an e mail from my PaPaw. I found it interesting since Jeremy and I were just reading a Christmas story that dealt with this same issue last night.

Twas the month before Christmas, when all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying, nor taking a stand.

Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a " Holiday ".

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout
MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday !

Winding Down

Well it's true, this semester is winding down, and I couldn't be happier. I have had this group within one of my classes which have really made these 8 weeks not so fun. They are very disruptive and act like we are in high school again. For me this is bad because I have been out of high school for 6 years now, I'm over all of the pettiness, and I just think other people need to grow up and be adults as well.

Other than that, this has been a great semester. I have learned so much, and actually being in the classroom has made it even better. I am so ready to teach, when can I start?

Now, how did that get there??

The other day, I was going to get a tank top to wear under my sweatshirt. So, I opened my tank top drawer (yes, I have so many that I have to devote an entire dresser drawer to them) and went riffling through my tank tops when I came a pair across of cheer shorts I have been looking for. I don't know how in the world they got there...but at least I found them.
